Kathie Smithson is a 1993 graduate of the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy. She has taken post-graduate training in diverse modalities including myofascial release (John Barnes method), craniosacral, neuromuscular therapy (St. John method), deep tissue, osteopathic techniques, muscle energy technique, TMJ, muscle balance and function, and Swedish massage.

Kathie uses a system of assessment and treatment that allows her to combine and integrate diverse modalities, and her sessions are custom-designed for each person. She looks at the whole person to evaluate posture, function, and areas of stress or injury. The patient’s relaxation and enjoyment is also an integral part of her work.

Kathie works with a wide range of people with acute and chronic conditions. She is also a certified Doula who offers pre- and post-natal massage

When not at work, Kathie can be found in her art studio. She describes a “bridge” between her healing work with people and her intuitive pastel, acrylic and oil paintings. Reflecting on this bridge, she says, “With people, and with my artwork, I sink into an extraordinary place within myself, where my senses are heightened and I feel attuned to the deepest rhythms of nature.”
